Federal Poverty Level (FPL)

The 2022 Federal Poverty Level (FPL) is used to determine eligibility for Advance Premium Tax Credit (APTC) and Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR) for 2023 ACA health insurance plans..

To be eligible for the Advance Premium Tax Credit, your income must be between 100% and 400% of the FPL based upon family size. You MUST NOT file your Federal Tax Return as "Married Filing Separately."

If you family income is between 100% and 250% of the FPL for your family size, you may be eligible for an addiditional benefit called Cost Sharing Reduction (CSR). This reduces the annual deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. If your income is less than 100% of FPL, you are not elibible for either the Premium Tax Credit or Cost Sharing Reduction.
